WHILE at the recent Moto GP in Phillip Island and just before the start of the main Moto GP race, I was getting ready for the big race, when out of the blue hopped one of Australia's most famous residents, a kangaroo.
I just couldn't believe what I was seeing. At road races at home, we always worry about dogs and other animals encroaching onto the track, but the kangaroo just skipped across, much to the amusement of the 53.000-strong crowd. I was waiting patiently to see what way the marshals and officials would handle the invader, and to my amazement I heard the roar of bikes leaving the line on the warm-up lap. Skippy was forgotten about, and the racing went ahead without any other fuss. Maybe we should learn from the relaxed way the whole issue was handled.
