THE Malahide, Balbriggan and The Hills clubs take centre stage next weekend on what will be a historic few days for cricket in Fingal.
Malahide's fantastic facilities will play host to their first international matches as Ireland continue their warm-up for next month's ICC World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka with games against South Africa A on Friday (4pm) and Sunday (2pm). Admission to the games is free, and with the weather forecast promising the matches should be a wonderful day out for all the family. Coach Phil Simmons said: 'These fixtures provide the perfect opportunity for the squad to get vital match practice before the tournament.
'We're sure supporters will come out and enjoy the most exciting format of the game, and give the team an excellent send-off before Sri Lanka.' Max Sorensen from The Hills is included in the Ireland squad, and it remains to be seen if he will be available to play for his club in Saturday's Bob Kerr Irish Senior Cup decider against Merrion at Clontarf (12.30pm). It's the premier knockout competition for clubs in this country and the Skerries outfit have every chance of lifting the famous trophy. It's a huge weekend for The Hills on another front as the club stages the first-ever final of the RSA National Cup, with a Fingal team one of the contenders. Balbriggan will face Muckamore in the decider on Sunday, starting at noon.
