Club is scrambling

A NEW Off Road club has been formed in the North County, with the aim of bringing back 'Old Style Grass Track and Scramble racing' to the Fingal area.
Affiliated to the Englishbased organisation YMSA (Youth Motorcycle Sporting Association) the club aim to run a number of events during the season. With the demise of the Skerries club, who used to run Moto X and Grass track events, it is good to see a new club emerge, supporting the off road events. There are clubs in North Cork, Limerick, Portarlington and now Skerries that are affiliated to the body, where the rest of the sport run in the South sees clubs affiliated to MCI.
The club meet in Ollie's Place in Skerries, and they plan to run events for Youths, Clubmans 1 and 2, Experts and Quads, along with Twin Shock, Evos up to 1989, that will run with the Over 40s. 'The club was set up to bring Grasstrack into the Fingal area, and we hope to run on an old-style Scramble track, which compromises of a natural track, and without manmade jumps. 'This is designed to give back the old racing feel where speed and natural ability is very important. The club is about the riders and the enjoyment of the sport,' said club spokesman Willie O'Grady.
