Fielding the majority of the team who overcame Fingallians in the decider at Parnell Park last season, Olaf's physicality was a major factor in their 2-7 to 0-11 win.

Nonetheless. with David Downey having a fine game in goal, Ballyboughal looked on course for victory as Eoin McPhilbin and Ciaran Wynne kept the scoreboard ticking over, before Olaf struck for a late goal.

Elsewhere in Division 3, St Sylvester's and St Finian's both suffered defeats away to Clan Na Gael Fontenoy and St Vincents respectively.

In Division 4, O'Dwyer's put it up to St Oliver Plunketts ER and goals from Sean Garvan and Liam Prout left them just a point in arrears five minutes into the second half before Plunketts pulled away.

St Margarets, meanwhile, scored a good 0-12 to 0-8 win away to Crumlin, while Clann Mhuire pushed Lucan Sarsfields all the way before losing out on an 0-8 to 0-6 scoreline.
