Early blitz guns down the Geese

Published 17/09/2013 | 15:45

THE Wild Geese U14 hurling team fell 2-7 to no score in arrears to runaway league leaders Thomas Davis of Tallaght.

A white wash looked on the cards but a speculative long range effort from Daniel Sammon landed in front of the advancing Thomas Davis goalie, bounced on the hard ground, over his head and into the net.

Further points from Scot Ennis and Luke Monks meant the Geese where back in the game by half time.

A spirited second hand performance saw their keeper James O Donnell kept busy and Jack Roberts perform some heroic defending but it was not enough to claw back the early damage. After this result the team lie in second place.

Wild Geese: James O Donnell, Scot Ennis, Jack Roberts, Ben O Brien, Daniel Sammon, Cian Ibbotson, Micheal Lenehan, Jamie Clarke, Luke Monks, Liam Monks, Mattie Hanlon, Mathew Newman.
