Round Towers Lusk

The first Annual Girls 7-a-side 1st year Blitz took place in Round Towers last week. Many thanks to the players and teachers from Lusk, Skerries and Ardgillan Community Colleges who participated this year.

The blitz started at a ferocious pace with some great scores and skill level in evidence from all involved. Skerries showed that they were going to be hard to beat in the tournament against a very hard working Lusk team. Ardgillan was up next and they showed glimpses of good form and that this was going to be an enjoyable outing for all involved.

In a repeat of the first game Lusk and Skerries proceeded to the final. Lusk came out fighting in the first half with a view of revenge for the first game defeat. Skerries then proceeded to dominate the game in the second half with the excellent Sarah Whelan showing her all round skills and team play. Lusk just couldn't find that killer goal and the game finished on a score line of 2-5 to 1-3 in favour of Skerries.

Many thanks to Round Towers Lusk, John Daly, James Devlin, Karen Harford for assisting on the day & GPO Shane Treanor for organising the event. A special mention goes to Sarah Whelan who picked up the Player of the Tournament award.

Round Towers runs a Nursery every Saturday morning from 10.45am-12pm. We cater for boys and girls aged between 3-7 years old in both Gaelic Football and Hurling/Camogie with a small cost of €2. Please contact Shane Treanor for further details on 086 1608672 or shane.treanor.gpo.dublin@gaa.ie.

St Pat's Donabate

Leagues are finishing up for the year but that doesn't mean that St Pats are letting up on matches.

Our U10 Boys had a good win away to Templeogue Synge St with an impressive passing display.

Our U11 Boys faced Thomas Davis for the first time. In contrasting games, we led in one match and trailed in the other at half time. However, favours were reversed in the second half in both games - with Pats coming back strongly in one and being neck and neck in the other. Thomas Davis came out on top eventually and we look forward to their next encounter.

The U12 Boys were beaten by a strong St Margarets team but had a sound game on the full pitch so it all bodes well for their entry into U13 football next year.

Congratulations to our U13 Girls who took on a solid St James Gaels side on a cold Ballamastone afternoon. Their win over Gaels 8-11 to 3-08 sees them finish second in their league in this, their first ever season of footie. Well done to Fiona, Joe, Damian and their squad.

Our Minors played St Vincents in the Semi Final of their Championship. Hopes were high, as we had beaten them during the League Campaign. However, it wasn't to be and a stronger Vincents side came away victorious. We wish them well in the Final.

The last match of the weekend was our U12 Girls who continue their winning ways with a 6-08 to 2-06 win over Foxrock Cabinteely.

Finally a reminder that our AGM will take place on 9 December in The Waterside House Hotel at 8pm.

For more information on this and all things Pats, please see our website stpatsgaa.com or our Facebook page StPatsGAA.

St Sylvester's

The junior hurlers stole the show this week with a dramatic and well deserved 0-14 to 1-10 win over Faughs in the top 4 semi-final. They play neighbours Skerries in the final.

The Intermediate hurlers lost out on a top four placing with Thomas Davis getting the win they needed over St Vincent's. Round Towers conceded walkover but unfortunately this still left Sylvesters just one point short. It has been a great season, reaching the championship semi-final where we lost to the eventual winners. The infusion of young talented players into the team this year bodes well for the future.

The under 21 hurlers lost their championship match to a very strong Erin's Isle team.

Next Wednesday the senior football team play league away to Ballyboden. The teams are on equal points so the winner will claim the last top four spot. 7.30 pm in Sancta Maria is the place to be for what will be a cracker.

The under 21 football team play Castleknock in the quarter final of the championship in Broomfield next Saturday at 14.30. This will be a great game so come along and support.

The minor hurlers play the semi-final of their championship away to Lucan next Sunday morning at 11.00 am. Their quarter final win over St Brigit's was one of the best games we have seen in Broomfield this year. Please make the effort to travel and support.

This week's Lotto jackpot is €4,550 and it would make a very happy Christmas for the lucky winner.

Skerries Harps
