Workforce has grown by 8%

REFLECTING the growth in the county during the period covered by Census 2011, Fingal recorded the greatest growth in its working population in the country between 2006 and 2011.

While the employment situation in the county has declined since the Census was taken, the figures are a hopeful sign for job creation in the future once the recession bottoms out. Between 2006 and 2011, the Central Statistics Office figures show that Fingal's workforce grew by some 8.2%. Many counties in the country saw a decline in their workforce in the same period with the first years of the recession having a greater impact in some areas of the country. In fact, only 13 local authority areas showed an increase in their workforce in the same period with the nearest to Fingal still a long way behind with Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown recording a 5.7% increase in its working population.
