Woman claims she was raped by taxi driver

A YOUNG woman has reported an alleged rape to local Gardaí, claiming she was attacked by a taxi driver in the back seat of his vehicle on a back road behind Dublin Airport.

The young woman was being driven home in a taxi after spending the evening at her fiancee's mother's house. It is alleged that the taxi driver stopped the car suddenly on Dunbro Lane in St. Margaret's and jumped into the back seat where he is alleged to have attacked and raped the young woman. The incident happened at 3.15 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, September 13. According to Garda sources, after the alleged sexual assault, the taxi driver drove the young woman home. He has been questioned about the incident and claims that he had consensual sex with his female passenger. Gardaí at Finglas Garda Station are investigating the incident.
