Volunteers lose the pounds to gain money for charity

A GROUP of Balbrigganbased fitness lovers broke the pain barrier last week to make a massive contribution to the 2FM and St Vincent de Paul toys appeal with a fancy dress fat loss bootcamp session.

Personal Trainers dressed as Santa Claus from ProFitness Gym Balbriggan trained 25 people, including Irish cricket star John Mooney, at Balbriggan Community Centre during a special edition fancy dress boot camp and as this was a free service everybody who attended brought a Toy for the 2FM and ST Vincent de Paul Christmas Toys Appeal. Owner Adrian Harper said: 'We had everyone training extremely hard during the one hour conditioning class, even though most of the ladies were dressed as Ms Claus! ' The session was intense and included weight training, push ups, kettlebells and boxing.'

St Vincent De Paul were on hand to take the Toys straight after the class and Paddy, the local rep, said: ' Our goal is to make sure every child gets at least one toy this year and this was a brilliant idea by Adrian and John that attracted a lot of local attention and raised toys for kids who may otherwise have not had any toy this Christmas.' Co owner John Carroll added: The ' fancy dress' fitness camp has been a great success and we are delighted to have helped young kids receive toys this year. 'We shall be delivering more special edition sessions in the coming months including the new the ' Great Selection Box Amnesty' in the first week of January.'
