Swing the mood!
FINGALLIAN'S GAA held their annual hurling festival recently with over 80 youngsters taking part.
The event, which took place during the last week of May, saw the young hurling enthusiasts lining out to take part in a week of hurling leagues for the Under 7, Under 8 and Under 9 and Under 10 age groups.
'This festival is a fixture on our calendar at the club,' Nicola Fitzgerald, PRO told the Fingal Independent.
'It's a break from the normal training sessions and gives the youngsters the chance to get to know other players on other teams within the club,' she explained.
The festival was also a way for the club to promote the sport among school children and perhaps gain new members.
'We are always looking for new members, and with so many sporting opportunities available to young people in Swords, there is competition to get new players,' explained Nicola.
The winners of the league were presented with medals on the final night of the festival with two young players – Patrick Keeling (Under 7 & 8) and Cillian Brennan (Under 9 & 10) being presented with Players of the Tournament awards.
'Every May we hold festivals like this for football, ladies football, camogie and hurling,' added Nicola.
