Schoolboy Niall wins Listowel writing prize
A LOUGHSHINNY schoolboy has won a top award in the prestigous Listowel Writing Competition.
Niall Rudden, a second class pupil in St. Brendan's NS, Loughshinny, finished as a winner in the 9 and under creative writing category.
Poet Paul Durcan and author Colm Tóibín were at hand to offcially open proceedings on the night.
Niall's award winning story 'A Book-tastic Adventure', is now published in 'Listowel Writers Week – Winners Anthology 2014' and is available from bookshops nationwide.
Niall's sister Hannah came first in the under 12 category with her story 'Best Friend amongst the Shadows"' last year at the Listowel Writers Week.
Some of this year's winners travelled from the UK, US, mainland Europe and all corners of Ireland. The festival also features theatre, music, cinema and art exhibitions and lots more.
