RUSH Chamber of Commerce has put a committee together to fight to keep the town's only bank open as its planned closure looms.AIB plans to shut the branch in Rush on October 26, which would leave the town with no bank at all. The decision has sent shockwaves around the village and led to a public meeting on the issue hosted by Rush Chamber of Commerce last week. The meeting at the Strand Bar was described as 'very positive' by Mairead Sweetman, chairwoman of Rush Chamber of Commerce. She said that as a result of the meeting, a committee had been formed and 'a plan of action is in situ'. That plan first entails gathering research on the usage of the bank and its ATM machine, which will also go if the branch shuts as planned at the end of October.
