AVOCA has opened as planned this week at the revamped Malahide Castle and Gardens but other elements of the €10 million project have been delayed.
Following a site inspection on Tuesday, September 25, it was decided to defer the opening date for Malahide Castle and Gardens until Monday, October 15. External works were completed in time but internal works in the castle itself and surfacing works on the west lawn will not be finished until the middle of October.
Shannon Heritage, who will manage the facility, and Fingal County Council said they regretted delay but wanted to ensure that the new tourist attraction was up to a standard to ensure an 'exemplary visitor experience'. The Avoca store, foodhall and cafe area, which is being delivered under a separate contract, is not affected by the internal works and opened as planned on Thursday, October 4.
