FROM NOW until the middle of November, Village Books in Malahide will be among the local bookshops participating in a nationwide event encouraging children to read while raising money for people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
The MS Readathon has kicked off this month and will continue right up to the middle of November and Village Books have application forms for those who want to particpate. The aim of the event is not just to raise cash for a worthy charity but also foster a love of reading in young people who get sponsored for reading. This is the 25th birthday for the MS Readathon which was launched this month at the Wax Museum in Dublin People with MS b enefit the most as the sponsorship raised by everyone in the Readathon which helps MS Ireland deliver support services to individuals and families around the country. The young readers help provide respite for a person with MS, who needs to give their family a break from caring; counselling hours for someone struggling with the loss of their ability; or a trained, supportive and informative staff member to listen, talk and advise a newly diagnosed person
