A LABOUR candidate for the local elections in Swords has said he is yet to meet anyone in favour of the preferred Swiftway route through the Fingal capital.
Duncan Smith, told the Fingal Independent: 'I am yet to speak to one person in favour of 'opening up' the Broadmeadow Road for the Swiftway service.
'In fact, a number of people I met asked if it would not make more sense to have the service go up the Rathbeale Road, turn at Glen Ellan Road and go past Applewood and come out at the Estuary roundabout?'
'This would seem a more natural route, serving more of the population and could be catered for on existing roads,' said Mr. Smith.
'I am urging all residents and residents groups to make submissions when public consultation opens on Monday , February 17 (continuing to March 14).
'We only need point to the example of the proposed monster sewage plant for North County Dublin to see what effect public submissions can have on an infrastructure proposal.'
