Pub may have been sold to UK chain
THE SLAUGHTERED Lamb pub in Swords is believed to have been sold onto UK pub chain JD Weatherspoon.
Social media sites suggest that the sale has already gone through with others commenting that the deal has yet to happen.
JD Wetherspoon pub chain has been looking to establish itself in the Irish market and has already purchased The Tonic Bar in Dublin for €1.5 million.
Wetherspoon, which operates more than 900 pubs in Britain and has a market capitalisation of over €900 million, has recently announced its plans to open 20 pubs in Ireland over the next 18 months.
The chain champions cask ale, low prices, long opening hours and no music in the UK.
They claim to be 'the only large pub firm which opens all its pubs early in the morning,' serving breakfast and coffee as well as a full food menu into the evening.
They usually have weekly food promotions such as a Steak Club, Curry Club, Sunday Club serving traditional Sunday roasts and Chicken Clubs.
