THE HSE has said its pursuit of a primary care centre in Swords stretches back just as far as in Balbriggan and said it made calls for expressions of interest in the project in 2007 and 2008.

The HSE said: 'Following calls for expressions of interest in '07 and '08 from parties in providing suitable accommodation for a Primary Care Centre a number of submissions were received for Swords. ' The submissions were assessed and technical dialogue meetings with qualifying parties were completed and a proposed provider identified which was located in the Airside Retail Park. ' The preferred provider was selected by the HSE in March 2009. Following the selection of a preferred provider for a proposed development such as this, it is necessary that a comprehensive agreement for lease, contracts etc, are prepared prior to the completion of the agreement. 'After a considerable period of discussions with the preferred provider they advised the HSE that they were not in a position to complete the agreement for lease and withdrew their submission.' Updating the situation in Swords, the HSE said: 'However, the HSE has received a number of submissions for the provision of this centre in Swords by way of the Operational Lease Process. ' These submissions are currently being assessed. This is a commercially sensitive process given that terms etc. have yet to be agreed and as such no further information can be provided at this time.'
