Patrick's Day Parade finalised
DETAILS for this year's St Patrick's Day Parade in Balbriggan have been finalised with the organisers hoping to build on the success of last year's event, which saw the introduction of a new start time and route.
Balbriggan Town Council have announced that this year's parade will will start at 2p.m. from Drogheda Street and travel southbound via Bridge Street to Dublin Street to finish at the car park opposite St. Peter and Paul's Church. A review stand will be in place at Georges Square.
All prospective participants in the Balbriggan St. Patrick's Day Parade must complete and forward an application form to Balbriggan Town Council, Town Hall, Georges Square by 5 p.m. Wednesday , March 12th. Late applications will not be accepted.
Marching groups are requested to assemble at Balbriggan F.C. car-park on Bath Road from 1p.m. Motorised vehicles must assemble on Drogheda Road (north of Bath Road junction).
A presentation ceremony will be held at the Review Stand following the completion of the parade.
As in previous years, Scoil Rince Cualann Dancing School will give a display of traditional Irish dancing and musical entertainment has also been arranged.
There will be an exhibition of winning entries in the St. Patrick's Day Art, Poetry and Essay Competition in the Town Hall from 12p.m. - 4p.m along with a display of Irish Dancing. All are welcome to attend.
Traffic closures and restrictions will be in place in the town centre and motorists are requested to follow traffic diversion information signs. Car parking will be available at Dublin Street car park (opposite St. Peter and Pauls Church) and Quay Street car park.
