Newsagent robbed by armed raider

A SWORDS newsagent was robbed of €350 in cash when a hooded man burst into the store and demanded its takings at knife-point.

The raider threatened to stab the young 18-yearold girl behind the counter of Newshound at JC's Supermarket in Swords if she did not hand over the contents of the till. He was dressed in a beige tracksuit bottom with a navy hoody with blue stripes and a brown baseball cap. His face was too obscured for witnesses to estimate the attacker's age and he made off from the scene with €350 in cash from the shop's till. The incident happened on Sunday, September 17, at 4 p.m. and gardaí in Swords are examining CCTV footage of the incident and are appealing for witnesses to the crime to step forward.
