JUST three years after it opened, the Millfield Shopping Centre in Balbriggan has been put into receivership by NAMA.
Chartered accountants, BDO have taken over the operation of the shopping centre which was initially developed by Parkway Properties.
The centre has a total retail area of 17,000sq m (almost 183,000sq ft) and includes 30 individual shop units, ten of which have still to be let.
The centre opened just as the recession hit but managed to secure a major anchor tenant in Tesco, which has its second largest Irish store at Millfield.
Around 20 shops are trading at the centre, including Boots, Specsavers, Easons, Jack and Jones, Vera Moda, McDonald's and Carphone Warehouse.
