Published 13/11/2012 | 12:54

TWO NEW Foroige clubs are opening in the Swords area and registration for members is taking place this week.

The membership night at the Kinsealy/Drynam Foroige Club is taking place on Tuesday, November 13, at 7.30 p.m. The club will be held every Tuesday evening from 7.30-9 p.m. in Drynam Parish Hall. Registration for the Applewood youth club is taking place on Friday, November 16, at 7.30 p.m. The club will be held every Friday evening from 7.30-9 p.m. in Applewood Community Centre. The clubs are aimed at anyone aged 12 or over attending secondary school.

The clubs' aim is to provide young people in the area with a safe place to socialise, meet their friends and get involved in lots of fun activities. Foróige clubs are purposely structured youth development groups made up of young people from the local community. They enable young people to experience democracy by electing their own club committee and managing and operating the club in cooperation with adult leaders Numbers will be limited and offered on a first come first served basis.

If you are interested in getting involved or know of anyone who you think would like to join one of the clubs, then feel free to come along on the night. For further information contact Thamzen Byrne on (087) 6266783 or Bryan Gavin, Foroige Regional Youth Officer, on (086) 8519639.
