Man accused of service station robberies remanded in custody

DARNDALE man MARK McCabe (28), Marigold Crescent, has been remanded in custody at Swords District Court for the service of a Book of Evidence.

McCabe is charged with robberies at Texaco Service Station, Strand Road, Portmarnock and Topaz Garage, Lissadell, Swords; an attempted robbery at Splash Marketing, Baldoyle and being in possession of drugs for his own use at his home, all on July 18 2011. The defendant is further charged with assaulting Garda Michael McCabe causing him harm and with violent behaviour at Swords Garda Station on July 19 2011 and with smashing a pane of glass in the solicitor's office at Swords District courthouse on July 19 2011. Judge Dermot Dempsey was told that the Director of Public Prosecutions has directed that the defendant be sent for trial on indictment on the charge. He was remanded in custody by consent for six weeks to December 3 for the service of the Book of Evidence.
