kind-hearted abbey's party for Crumlin
A FIVE-year-old Swords girl, who has undergone three open-heart surgeries since birth, is proving to be an inspirational role model.
Kind-hearted Abbey May has decided to hold a 'Mad Hatter's Tea Party' at the end of the month to raise money for Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin – and has enlisted the help of chart-busting local band Kodaline to lend a hand.
Abbey's mother, Jacqui Gray, said: 'When Abbey wanted to raise money for the hospital she said she wanted a tea party so when asked what she wanted at this tea party she said "cupcakes and Kodaline".'
Jacqui said: 'Vinny May, Abbey's uncle, and the boys from Kodaline were only too happy jump at the chance to help Abbey raise money for Crumlin as Vinny knows first-hand what Crumlin hospital has done for his niece and is very grateful to them.'
Speaking to the Fingal Independent, Jacqui said Abbey was doing 'really well'. 'She had her third open-heart surgery last November and she is doing really well now. She has just started at St Cronan's.'
