A BALBRIGGAN man is pleading for an ambulance to be permanently stationed in north Fingal after an ambulance from Finglas had to be despatched to take his wife to hospital where she later gave birth to a premature baby who then tragically lost its short battle for life.

Garrett Mooney and his wife, Megan, have decided to go public with their tragic story just a week after burying their beautiful little girl, Saoirse, who they believe might have survived if there was an ambulance available closer to their home.

Garrett said: 'We can't help but feel that if there was an ambulance stationed in the area, we would not be experiencing this pain and heartache we are feeling and will always feel.

'I would like to thank and commend the staff of the ambulance service and members of the Fire Brigade who do a brilliant job and help thousands of people on a daily basis', added the grieving dad.
