A VICIOUS assault on three men in the centre of Swords left one struggling for life on the street until a quick thinking garda sergeant arrived on the scene to deliver life-saving CPR.
Three men were the victims of an assault at around 4.30am on the morning of Sunday, December 9 on the Malahide Road, just off Main Street in Swords. Gardaí arrived on the scene to find two of the victims laying on the street, both bleeding from the head. One man was bleeding from the left side of his face while another bled from the nose and head and more worryingly, appeared not to be breathing. Sergeant Anthony McNulty from Swords Garda Station was one of the officers on the scene and he used his CPR training to get the injured man breathing again. The ambulance from Dublin Fire Brigade was quickly on the scene and took the man to hospital where it was found that a build up of blood in his nose had prevented him from breathing. His injuries were treated at the hospital and he was later discharged. Gardaí in Swords are investigating the incident and are interested in talking to two black males, one 5ft 10" and the other 6ft, both wearing blue jeans on the night, who left the scene in a taxi. Taxi drivers working locally are being questioned by Gardaí in an effort to track down the two men.
