A DECISION on whether the highly successful Flavours of Fingal show will go ahead next year will be made by the end of November.
The inaugural two-day event, held at Newbridge Demesne in Donabate, attracted approximately 18,000 people and local councillors have applauded Fingal County Council for its organisation. Exit surveys carried out by the local authority showed that most people attending the show were very happy with the event and the full programme of activities over the two days. Some suggestions and recommendations were made for future events around carparking and signage.
It is hoped that the event will become an annual event and members of the organising committee are currently exploring methods of funding the show in 2013. A decision on the 2013 show is expected by the end of November, councillors were informed. Cllr Darragh Butler (FF) praised everyone involved at the council for organising what he described as a 'fantastic event' and welcomed the moves to make it an annual event. Cllr Gerry McGuire (Lab) also complimented the whole organising team for the event.
In response to a query from Cllr Ciaran Byrne (Lab) regarding the number of local businesses which took part, councillors were informed that approximately 75% of the exhibitors were from the area. Incentives to make it more attractive for smaller producers to attend the show were also being looked at by the council, the meeting was told.
