Facility to be staffed by 58 health professionals

THE PROPOSED primary care centre for Balbriggan will be staffed by 58 health professionals and will treat up to 255 patients a day.

That is according to the planning application for the development which was lodged at the end of October, just in time for the October 31 deadline set by the HSE. Some of the services that will be available at the planned centre including nursing services, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, a social worker, dental services, community mental health services and a mental health day hospital. The 58 staff at the centre will include two primary care teams of 13 health professionals each, seven dental services staff, 14 staff dedicated to community mental health services, six further staff for the mental health day hospital and five management and administration staff. The primary care centre will occupy 3,992 square metres on a site 95 metres north of St Peter and Paul's Church on the Dublin Road in Balbriggan. It is bounded to the south by St Paul's Crescent, to the east by Glebe sports ground and to the north by two semidetached homes and to the west by Dublin Street.
