Drunk and abusive

A 20-YEAR-OLD man who was drunk and abusive in the public office at Swords Garda station was told by Judge Dermot Dempsey last week that he was 'sticking his nose in where he should not'.

Roy Mahady, Lanesborough News, Finglas had been out celebrating Leaving Certificate results on the night of August 16. There had been a lot of drink taken and after his cousin was arrested, Mr Mahady went to find out what was happening at the Garda station. He became very abusive with Garda Eamon Hoey who had to arrest him after he refused to leave. Nicole Kenny, solicitor for Mr Mahady, said that he client was very foolish to go to the Garda station and fully accepts now that he should have 'minded his own business'. Judge Dempsey convicted and fined Mr Mahady €200 for using threatening and abusive language and behaviour and €100 for being drunk in public.
