THE council will wait until the free bike scheme that has proven a huge success in Dublin City, is rolled out to other cities around the country before considering a similar scheme for our larger towns, like Balbriggan and Swords.
Cllr Tom O'Leary (FG) and Cllr Darragh Butler (FF) suggested a free bike scheme might work in Balbriggan and Swords and asked the council to consider the move. The local authority said the scheme had been a success in Dublin city and may now be rolled out to Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford.
The council said it would wait to see how the scheme operates in those locations before considering introducing a similar scheme anywhere in Fingal.
