THE ANNUAL Fingal Dublin Chamber Business Excellence Awards are just over a week away and anticipation is growing ahead of the gala ceremony.The awards ceremony next week promises to be spectacular with over 20 categories this year, and the organisers have received a tremendous response from the local business community. Shortlisting has taken place and those in the running for awards can expect to be informed this week, This year the chamber has decided to award a special Fingal Sportsperson of the Year Excellence Award to Swords athlete Catherine Walsh following her exploits in the London Paralympics. Catherine claimed two medal at the Games, claiming silver with her partner Fran Meehan in the Paracycling Individual Pursuit, while also grabbing a bronze in the bronze medal in the Women's Individual Time Trial, when she was also partnered by Fran. Chamber CEO Tony Lambert said: 'I think it is very appropriate as the awards are all about recognising excellence. ' The chamber believes that it is very important to recognise Catherine for her outstanding achievements this year. She has a long line of achievement but what she achieved this year was simply fantastic and we are delighted to be honouring her on the night.' With over 450 people expected to attend the evening on Friday, November 16, at the Crowne Plaza Dublin Northwood Hotel in Santry, it promises to be the most spectacular event in Fingal this year.
