THE much-loved CASA Respite Home in Malahide is teaming up with RTE's At Your Service in launching an urgent appeal for tradesmen to volunteer their time for an exciting renovation project at the house that will be filmed for a Christmas television special.

CASA (Caring And Sharing Association) Respite Home along with RTE's At Your Service, presented by John and Francis Brennan, are urgently seeking carpenters and painters to volunteer their time for the project from November 11 to 15.

The work will be filmed for a Christmas special of the popular show when Francis and John and a crew of volunteer tradesmen come to the aid of the Malahide respite house, thanks to an appeal from a local teenage quadriplegic.

In the special programme, Francis and John are responding to the appeal of 15-year-old Conor Dillon and a charity close to his heart, CASA.

Conor, who has quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy, asked to the Brennans to come to the aid of the CASA Respite Centre in Malahide, Dublin.

It is an Irish charity that provides respite for disabled people, giving them and their families a much needed rest and a home from home.

Despite 'respite' sounding clinical, CASA pride themselves on providing a holiday experience with specialised volunteers providing care on a one-to-one basis with each guest.

However, the recession has impacted on CASA significantly and all the money raised is used to keep the doors open.

The house is in deep need of a revamp and the place needs an injection of life, colour and fun.

The programme will follow the Brennans over four weeks as they attempt to renovate the centre's lounge, kitchen and garden to create the perfect environment for people staying there.

Kerry Reid, production co-ordinator for Waddell Media, who produce the show for RTE, said: 'For this Christmas challenge and as CASA is a charitable organisation, on this occasion, we need to ask for assistance.

'We need volunteers to make it happen. Because we don't want to disrupt the great work CASA do, we only have one week to rejuvenate the home.

'We already have a great team of tradesmen and the inimitable Brennan Brothers but we need people to help out, particularly skilled professionals.'

If you would like to get involved and volunteer your skills, contact maria@waddellmedia.com or call (048) 9042 7646.
