THE COUNTDOWN to the Fingal Dublin Chamber Business Excellence Awards has begun.

The gala awards ceremony takes place this Friday at the Crowne Plaza Northwood Hotel in Santry, where more than 450 people are expected to attend one of the most important events in the business calendar. These annual awards, founded in 2002, celebrate business excellence in Fingal and pay tribute to the talent, drive, innovation and success of the business community in the area.

Awards are set to be presented in over 20 categories and those businesses which have made the shortlist have been informed by the organisers. This year, the chamber has decided to award a special Fingal Sportsperson of the Year Excellence Award to Swords athlete Catherine Walsh after her exploits in the London Paralympics, where she won two medals.

The event will be hosted by RTÉ's Marty Whelan. The evening starts with a drinks reception at 6.30pm, followed by dinner and the presentation of awards at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from the Chamber office at 01 8900977.
