A MAN charged with assaulting another man causing him harm is facing a Circuit Court trial on the charge.
Neil Curran (32) of Moyclare Avenue in Baldoyle is alleged to have assaulted Peter Lynch at Airside Retail Park on December 17th last year.
A State solicitor informed the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions has directed trial on indictment. This means that the case will be sent forward for trial by judge and jury to Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
Judge Dermot Dempsey assigned one senior counsel and the book of evidence was served on the accused at Swords District Court.
Judge Dempsey gave the defendant the formal warning that he must provide to the DPP within 14 days, details of any alibi he intends to rely on in the course of his trial.
Curran has been remanded on continuing bail to appear before Court 5 at the Criminal Courts of Justice at the end of the month.
Meanwhile, his co-accused, Jennifer Quinn (33) of Ringfort View in Balrothery, who is charged with assaulting Mr Lynch and using threatening and abusive behaviour has been remanded on continuing bail to re-appear before Swords District Court on September 1st for a plea or to fix a date for hearing the case.
The State solicitor told the court that the DPP has recommended summary disposal of Quinn's charge.
