MORE than 80 airport workers are getting on their bikes for charity riding all the way from Dublin to Barretstown Camp in Kildare on a 100k route to raise cash for the Dublin Airport Authority Charity of the Year.Barretstown is that chosen charity this year and some 86 riders, mostly members of the Dublin Airport Wheelers are taking on the challenge on September 15th to cycle from Spawell to Barretstown and back. That is a round trip of 100k but a few less experienced cyclists are taking on an easier 50k trip. They will travel by bus to the camp at Barretstown before cycling back with the more hard 100k cyclists so that all 86 riders return home together. It is the second running of the charity cycle by the Dublin Airport wheelers and according to one of the organisers from the DAA, Ivor Maleady, it is hoped the mammoth effort will raise about €8,000 for the DAA Charity of the Year. Ivor thanked everyone who is taking part in the cycling marathon and extended his gratitude to sponsors, Eurocycles, Hegarty's, Flynn's Engineering, OCS, Sue Fraser Fitness and Club Energise.
