A FINGAL IT company has been chosen to represent Ireland in this year's European Business Awards as one of 20 national champions invited to take part.

Agile Networks designs, builds and supports complex IT networks and was recently voted 'Best Start Up of the Year' at the ICT Excellence Awards.

Agile will now compete head-to-head against companies in 30 other countries for 'Ruban d'Honneur' status in the next round of the awards.

Judged across innovation, business excellence and sustainability, the European Business Awards is open to organisations of all sizes and sectors.

Darragh Richardson, Managing Director with Agile Networks, said: 'To be selected as one of 20 National Champions in this year's European Business Awards is a great honour for our business and a vote of confidence in our services, our systems and our team. We're proud to be flying the flag for Ireland and its technology sector on a European stage. We'd like to wish all the other Irish nominees the very best of luck in the next round.'

Agile Networks, which is headquartered in Blanchardstown, was set up in November 2011 after Richardson and several senior members of the management team successfully staged a management buy-out of Telindus' Irish operations. Since then, the company has doubled its staff and grown revenues by 152 per cent, winning several high profile contracts with companies such as Digiweb, Three, Magnet, HEAnet and the RDS.
