PUPILS and staff at St Teresa's primary school in Balbriggan have a long tradition of being an active and energetic school.
The school prides itself on providing the children in our school with a broad range of opportunities to partake in fun enjoyable physical activities in the safe surroundings of the school environment.
While reflecting on all the activities that were currently on-going on in the school it was decided to apply for the Active Flag.
The Active Flag is awarded to schools who strive to achieve a physically active school community.
Over the last 18 months the school has introduced and implemented new initiatives to create a more physically active school.
Some of these initiatives were Show and Tell Days, Bokwa Dancing, Skipping Zones in the yard and Walk and Cycle to School Days. The school also had a really fun and enjoyable Active Week in March 2013.
The school's application to the National Active School Committee was successful. The school had a wonderful launch of its beautiful new flag on at a ceremony attended by pupils, parents and invited guests from local sporting organisations. S
t. Teresa's Balbriggan is now known as one of the most active schools in Ireland and we hope to stay as fit and active as possible.
