Visibility at Philomena's to be investigated

VISIBILITY FOR traffic exiting St Philomena's on the Dublin Road in Swords is to be examined by the council after complaints from a local councillor.

Cllr Darragh Butler (FF) asked the council ' to investigate the visibility when trying to exit from the bungalows on to the Main Road as there is a curve in the road and with the cars parked on the road, visibility can be reduced and dangerous'. The council's operations department replied: ' While the operations department has not previously recorded complaints in relation to difficulties when exiting St. Philomena's, the traffic section will investigate the matter and will recommend and implement measures to improve the situation if warranted.' However, Cllr Butler's request for footpath repairs at the same location failed to get a positive response. He asked the local authority to ' repair the path outside St. Philomena's on the Dublin Road, the surface of which has continually deteriorated since the bad snow and ice in December 2010'. But the council had a very different view of the state of the path, saying: ' This footpath has been examined by the Area Engineer and while some minor deterioration has been noted it is not considered necessary to carry out footpath repairs at present.'
