Village Books in line for national bookshop award

MALAHIDE BOOK store Village Books is in the running for a top award this year and the local public are being urged to get involved.

It has been nominated in the Bord Gais Energy Bookshop of the Year 2012 award and customers are asked to cast their vote by visiting, Last year, Village Books, Malahide was delighted to be named one of the top 10 bookshops in the counrty as voted by their customers. Village Books always prides itself on being more than just a bookshop. It has an eclectic mix; stocking an interesting range of creative kits, cards and stationary as well as a wide range of books.

Their Children's Corner is jampacked with the best range of books, activity books and games. It is here that the energetic Junior Book Clubs meet on Monday afternoons and enliven the shop with their loud debates. They also run a book club for adults, which was featured on TV3's Ireland AM last year.

Village Books is a big part of the community and they host events whenever possible. Their customers' support helped them to get their title of one of the top ten Irish bookshops and without them they would not be the success they are today. Mary Farrell, owner of Village Books said: 'Our customers inspire us to be the best bookshop, they believe we are the Best Bookshop of the Year, and the customer is always right.'
