A SWORDS bride brought Hollywood-style glitz to Drogheda on her wedding day and sparked a two mile long traffic jam! The wedding of Julieanne Joyce, now living at Cement Road in Drogheda, and Patrick Joyce, originally from Priorswood, literally had the street in a frenzy as dozens of amateur photographers had a field day.
The action began just after 1.30 p.m. when three white hummers arrived, along with a Bentley, and took up half the street. Looking radiant in white and accompanied by six bridesmaids, the bride finally made it through the crowd that had gathered to watch the spectacle. Afterwards, the wedding party posed for photographs on the steps as the build up of traffic trying to get into town went all the way up the North Road. Given the length of the convoy of vehicles one of the hummer drivers was bemused about how he'd get out of town. They finally made their way down Shop Street close to 4pm and on for a reception in Ashbourne.
