Sewage plant opposition

OPPOSITION was building and getting organised against a project that would dominate the local headlines in 2012 and is set to do the same in the year ahead - the controversial plans to bring a giant regional sewage plant to Fingal.

At the beginning of the year nine sites around the county were still in the frame for the project and it was being claimed that the local communities around these nine sites had not been considered when the shortlist was drawn up. Those comments were made by Labour's Dublin North Constituency Council which has objected to the construction of the plant, expressing its 'solidarity with the residents who are expressing their outright opposition' to the facility being built in the Fingal region.
