IT will be up to the school, NAMA and a private developer in the area to negotiate taking new safety measures on a private road near Skerries Educate Together.
Cllr Ciaran Byrne (Lab) asked the council to intervene and liaise with the developer and NAMA to provide double yellow lines, road markings on a pedestrian crossing and a mini-roundabout on the unfinished private road outside the school.
In response, the council's operations department said: 'The operations department arranged, and was represented at, a meeting held in the Skerries Educate Together School last year with the developer in question and the school authorities.
'At this meeting it was clarified that the carrying out of any works on the private road leading to the school entrance is a private matter between the developer and the school.
'This area includes the mini-roundabout and the unfinished road referred to in the motion. The pedestrian crossing is located on the public road and the road markings in the vicinity of the crossing will be renewed as considered necessary.'
