THE ANNUAL Christmas Food appeal will be taking place in supermarkets around Swords over the next fortnight.

Organised by Swords and District Lions Club, volunteers are a familiar sight in the run up to Christmas collecting non-perishable food items for the needy in the Swords area. This year the collection points will be in the Pavilions at Superquinn and Dunnes Stores from Thursday, December 6 to Saturday, December 8 and in JCs Supermarket from Thursday, December 13th to Saturday, December 15. In the past years, the generosity of the local community to this very worthy cause has been outstanding. For example last year 46 laden trolley loads were collected. Lions Club President, Maurice Kealy, has appealed to shoppers to give as generously as possible. 'Your little bit of help will go a long way towards making Christmas a happier occasion for the more needy in our community,' he said.
