Photographers put on great expo

A VERITABLE visual treasure-trove can be found in the Fingal County Council offices until Sunday as the FCC Foto Group exhibition continues to dazzle local photography fans.

The group, which is comprised of county council staff, was set up in 2004 by retired photographer and honorary life member Michael Johnston, and their Summer Competition offers members of the public a chance to view life through the lens of those who keep the county ticking over. Last Tuesday saw newly-elected Mayor of Fingal Cian O'Callaghan present winner Bernard Harford, second placed Fran Creed and third placed Christine Murphy with their prizes, while Caroline Bradley also received a glowing commendation for her efforts. Besides holding exhibitions, Fingal County Council's premier photographers host regular meetings for both current and retired council workers, with trips to scenic locations such as Powerscourt, Trim Castle and Belvedere House in recent years providing inspiration to the amateur snappers. Although funded by the members themselves, the group is often utilised to capture some of the events that take place under Fingal County Council's direction.
