RESIDENTS of rural Fingal are set to benefit from a new early-morning weekday bus service to both the major urban centres of Balbriggan and Swords. Commuters using Nifti – operated by North Dublin Rural Transport – will enjoy a service to both towns at 7.10am, with a return service from Swords at 5.40pm and 6.30pm and from Balbriggan at 6.30pm.
Residents of Garristown, Ballyboughal, Oldtown and Naul will benefit from the new routes.
These routes will provide for an integrated service connecting the rural area using Nifti to interlink with main line services provided by Bus Eireann, Irish Rail, Dublin Bus, Swords Express, Urbus, a spokesperson stated. Some new evening services are set to be rolled out along with a Saturday afternoon service to Swords.
This will provide connection for both young people and those who want to head into the county town or to travel on into the capital.
Nifti is part of the Rural Transport Network, which during the month of October asked each of its members to host an evening in their area celebrating the contribution of the community in the success of the rural transport initiative.
As part of this, an open day was held at Seamus Ennis Centre, where passengers and community representatives were invited along for an afternoon of music, fun and chat.
' These new services deliver an extraordinary integrated public transport service to those we serve at a price which is competitive and at times which provides for their needs,' a spokesperson stated.
