BALBRIGGAN NATIVE Paul Guildea has written his first book - The Pebble - which launched last week.' The idea for The Pebble came from a desire to combine mythical and modern Drogheda and its surrounding area into a real and relevant fiction fantasy. Taking in The Winter Solstice and Newgrange, St Laurence Gate and St Peter's and even Mellifont Abbey, not to mention some local businesses like Aileen's Art of Coffee was both challenging and exciting and a great way to bring the book alive to the young adults of the town,' he stated. ' The book was a desire to promote and 'magic up' the romance and mysticism of Drogheda and areas.' The main character Alex is a late teen who is sassy, smart mouth and feisty and 'I wanted to get a real gritty flawed local hero in the story (if hero is indeed the right word- PS read the bookl) and a book that is full of twists and turns,' Paul added. An award winning youth worker, Paul is a member of LimeTree Creative Writing Group, Duleek. The e-book will be available in paperback in the new year.
