AN ANNUAL charity walk around Oldtown led by a Balbriggan man and a group of former patients of Cappagh Hospital, is to be held again this September.
Leo Halpin from Balbriggan is a former patient of the hospital and began the walk along with some other ex-patients who wanted to raise money for a hospital that, in some cases, helped them to walk again.
The walk has gone from strength to strength and now, around 200 people turn out to walk the 5km route.
This year's walk will take place on September 14 at 3pm from Oldtown House and all are welcome. There will be a huge array of prizes to raffle and auction off too as Leo aims to match last year's fantastic total of €8,000.
The good people at the Cappagh Hospital Foundation are very grateful to Leo and everyone who helps make the annual walk such a huge success.
John Dennehy, Executive Director of Cappagh Hospital Foundation said: 'Leo is a true ambassador of Cappagh and we remain indebted to him for the work that he undertakes each year to promote and run this event.
'The Leo Halpin Great Cappagh Walk makes an enormous contribution to the care and treatment of patients at Cappagh Hospital and we are delighted that Leo, his family, friends and neighbours continue to support us in this way.'
