Lack of funding blamed for delay on halting site

A LACK of funding is being blamed for the failure of Fingal County Council to progress a planned upgrade of the Moyne Road Travellers' Halting Site.

The council said that allied to the funding difficulties for the project, there is also a problem with a number of families who have moved onto the site without the agreement of the local authority. Answering a question on the issue from Cllr Peter Coyle (Lab), the council said: 'The refurbishment of Moyne Park is an objective within the Traveller Accommodation Program 2009 - 2013. 'However funding, from the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government, for this type of work is very limited at present. In addition there are a number of families living on this site without the agreement of the Council and this situation needs to be resolved before the any major works can be done on this site.'
