Kodaline up for award

A BAND from Swords has made it to a list of 15 nominees for the BBC's influential Sound of 2013 award which has previously launched the careers of worldfamous acts like Jessie J and Adele.

Kodaline have gone from strength to strength this year and finish 2012 with news that next year could launch the band into a stratosphere they could only have dreamed of. The BBC has just published it's ' longlist' for the award with the winner chosen in January by an influential group of DJs, critics, bloggers and broadcasters. The most promising act from the longlist will be announced on Friday, January 4 with the top five artists from the list revealed from New Year's Eve until January 4th. Some of the previous winners include Jessie J, Adele and Ellie Goulding and the list is a mix of solo artists and groups. BBC Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens will announce the winner on his show. He said: ' This year's Sound of 2013 longlist is an exciting and vibrant one, which I think bodes well for the year ahead. It's always a varied list that surprises people, causes debate and speculation about the state of the music scene.'
