SWORDS VOICES

The 20th Swords Voices was launched recently and is now available at Audrey's Newsagents, North St.,& Swords Museum and XL Newsagents Main Street. Read Shane Redmond's account of how the town was developed, living on North Street, Frank Redmond's Fingal Fairy Tale, The Lockout in Swords, Seatown Villas, and much more. A great read for €5.

BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT

Bethany trained people are available to provide support to those grieving after the loss of a loved one. This is a free, confidential service. The group meet on the second and lst Monday of each month from 7.30 to 8.30 p.m. at the Parish Office, Parochial House, Seatown Road Swords. LIONS CLUB

SWORDS TOASTMASTERS

BALBRIGGAN LIGHTS

The Christmas Season will get under way in Balbriggan at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 22, with the arrival of Santa Claus to Balbriggan Town Centre just in time for the turning on of the Christmas Lights. Georges Square will come alive for a wonderful festive event for the whole community to enjoy with a variety of Christmas musical and street entertainment. Balbriggan Town Council and Balbriggan Chamber of Commerce with the support of Fingal County Council are making a special effort again this year to promote Balbriggan during the busy Christmas Season and everyone is urged to support local businesses this year. For those attending the turning on of the Christmas lights and the festive event, free parking is available at the church car park and the Quay Street car park. Don't forget to enter the very popular Christmas Lights competition, where one lucky child will be selected to turn on the Balbriggan Christmas Lights and receive a fabulous prize of a Sony Playstation 3. Entry forms for the Christmas Lights Competition are available in the Town Hall, Goldsmiths Jewellers and Supervalu.

SENIOR CITIZENS SOCIAL

Balbriggan Senior Citizens Group Social will take place on Sunday next in the Senior Citizens' Hall, High Street, Balbriggan at 4 p.m. All aged 60 plus are welcome to come along.

Balbriggan Senior Citizens Annual Christmas Party for those 66 or over will take place on Sunday, December 15th at 5p.m. in The Bracken Court Hotel, Balbriggan. Tickets cost €15 each. Balbriggan Senior Citizens Group invite all senior citizens over the age of 60 to drop-in to the Senior Citizens Hall, High Street, any weekday morning from 10.00 a.m. – 12 Noon for a chat, cup of tea, read the papers, watch television or enjoy any of the activities taking place in the centre.

Balbriggan Senior Citizens Group weekly Bingo sessions take place on Tuesdays in the Senior Citizens Hall at 8.30 p.m. You do not have to be a senior citizen to attend the Bingo.

ILLUSTRATED TALK

Balbriggan and District Horticultural Society present an illustrated talk 'Winter Colour in the Garden' by Miss Dominica McKevitt, Head Gardner Ardgillan, in the Scout Den, Market Green, on November 21st at 8.30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served and a raffle. All are welcome to come along. There is a Table Quiz in aid of Remember us in Skerries Rugby Club on Saturday 23rd November club at 8.30 p.m. sharp. The cost is €5 per person and everyone is invited to come on out and support this worthwhile cause.

CHRISTMAS FAIR

The fifth Balscadden Community Hall Christmas Fair is taking place on Sunday 24th November between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Plenty of home baking, needle work, bottle stall, lucky dip, raffle, crafts and a lot more, all donated by the local community for sale to raise funds for the local St Benignus School, Balscadden, community facilities and St Marys Special School. There is no admission charge and refreshments will be available.

WEEKLY CCE CLASSES

Balbriggan Branch of Cómhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann weekly tin whistle and dancing classes are running each Wednesday in Glebe North FC, Clubhouse Market Green, Balbriggan. Tin whistle from 7.00 – 8.30 p.m. and Adult dancing from 8.30 – 10.00 p.m. All are welcome to come along.

CULTURE GROUP

O'Dwyers GAA Club Culture Group's fiddle classes run each week in the Clubhouse, Bremore, Balbriggan on Mondays at 4.30 p.m; Set Dancing classes for Juniors (7.30 p.m.) and Adults (8.15 p.m.) are also running on Mondays and all are invited to come along. Tin whistle classes take place on Wednesdays at 4.30 p.m.

BINGO

There is Bingo every Wednesday night at 8.45 p.m. in O'Dwyers GAA Clubhouse, Bremore, Balbriggan, where great prizes can be won. Everyone is welcome to come along.

CRAFT FAIR

Balbriggan Indoor Craft Fair will take place each Sunday from 10a.m. - 3.p.m. in Glebe North FC on Market Green. Come along and support all the Local people who put so much effort into their crafts. Free parking.

ST. GEORGE'S QUIZ
