In response to a question from Cllr Monica Harford (Lab) about the plans for 'Halla an Bhaile', the local authority laid out its plans for the landmark Balbriggan building. Among the works already completed at the town hall have been the enlarging of window opes and the fitting of new blinds leading to better light and ventilation in a number of rooms within the building. The weather vane from the top of Balbriggan Library which fell victim to strong winds, has also been restored. A contractor has been appointed to carry out a number of new works including the refurbishment and redecoration, externally and internally, of the existing hardwood windows in Balbriggan Library. That contractor will also take on the removal of existing tiles from a high level roof turret of Balbriggan Library, making repairs to the sub-structure, refitting roof tiles and the erection of the newly restored copper weather vane. The preparation of tender drawings for the extension of the existing steps and the provision of a new ramp to the main entrance will commence once the works outlined above have been completed.
